Peñafalcón Selected Harvest 2007 was made from selected grapes from Tempranillo vineyards positioned on high slopes with stony calcareous terroirs.

Casimiro Marcos and María José Arranz, owners of Peñafalcón wineries (Peñafiel) are looking for a fresher profile for their wines in this range they produce, a goal they achieve with the altitude at which their vines are located and the difference in temperatures between day and at night during the months of ripening, factors that favor the slow ripening of the grapes, thus obtaining abundant presence of ripe fruit and greater acidity.

During the fermentation, the yeasts typical of the vineyard do their job and, as always, the house's trademark, a long, delicate and careful 60-month rest in American oak barrels (with which it is intended a slightly faster oxygenation that leaves feeling vanilla, coffees, coconuts ... in a more frank and quick way) and fine-grained French oak (which is won in subtlety to offer more austere but more nuanced wines: balsamic, pepper, tobacco, bakery, fruit dry roasted) medium roasted plus to achieve a balance with nuances of spices and nuts.

It is presented in a ruby ??red dress with a medium layer, slightly lace edging, clean, bright and with abundant tears, wide and slowly falling down the wall of the glass without dragging color.

In a nose of medium intensity but endowed with great complexity and depth, a multitude of aromatic nuances stand out, ranging from fine leathers to earthy memories, tobaccos, delicate spicy notes to subtle aromas of very ripe, liqueur black fruits on a background of notes smoked, dried and roasted fruits.

A wine that constantly changes as we have it in the glass, a wine of spectacular complexity, elegance and intensity.

Soft, elegant and balanced attack, with a round step, remarkable body, sweet and velvety tannins together with a very good acidity that gives it freshness and has kept it alive during all this time.

Long finish with notes of black truffle, mushroom, mushrooms, some chocolate and herbaceous aftertaste along with licorice, spices, toasts, fine woods, balsamic and ripe black fruits in retronasal that round it off perfectly.
