Notes de dégustation

“Peñafalcón 2013” ??100% country ink made by Peñafalcón wineries aged for 30 months in American oak barrels following the origins of the Ribera and the tradition of long oak aging.

In the winery, it is decided to age in American oak barrels since the properties of the wood are transmitted to the wine more easily and quickly, reducing the astringency and hardness of the wines. The American oak contributes less tannins to the wine, but a greater variety and power of aromas.

Not all the grapes are worth for a long aging and in the Peñafalcón winery, Casimiro Marcos and his wife María José Arranz are clear: "what you do in the vineyard comes out later in the wine." With a natural and artisan elaboration process, this “Peñafalcón 2013” ??manages, after a long period of more than fifty months between its aging in barrels and the subsequent refinement in the bottle, to define its personality and maintain and reinforce its fruit character.

The wine is presented dressed in an attractive mid-layer cherry color with slightly evolved trim. Clean and bright, with abundant and fine tears that fall lazily down the wall of the glass.

The nose is complex and elegant, highlighting the excellent integration of the oak in the set. Aromas of black fruit (blueberries, blackberries, plums ...) appear clearly, along with aromas of ripe red fruit, all on a spicy background.

In attack it is fleshy, with good fruit load and a long mid palate. It shows a very pleasant entry, with a noble and smooth tannin that melts into the whole. Firm skeleton and noble tannin, silky and integrated that, together with its extraordinary acidity, augurs a long life.

Persistent finish with spicy memories.
