Backbone is a wine term that donates a wine that is full-bodied, well structured and balanced by a desirable level of acidity. The combination of varieties in our GSM highlights these characteristics impeccably. All components fermented separately and transferred to barrel. After 16 months in barrel the base blend was assembled and returned to barrel for a further 12 months maturation in 1-4 year old barrels. Colour - Deep red with a touch of brickiness. Nose - Dominated by the spicy notes of the Grenache and Mourvedre with some toasty oak notes in support. Palate - The flavours are full and round dominated by the spicy components of the fully ripe fruit. The tannins are evident on the finish but are soft and integrated. Cellaring - 3-5 years.
