Dégustation de vigneron

This is a very special expression of Barossa Valley Shiraz, arguably Australian wine?s most recognisable region and varietal. This parcel was sourced from 30 year old own rootstock vines of a Light Pass vineyard. The parcel was hand picked and bunch sorted before destemming and then open fermented. It was cold soaked and then spent 8 days on skins followed by 18 months in 20% new French Oak and 5% American oak barriques. The remainder was matured in 2-4 year old seasoned barrels. This wine is an excellent example of the outstanding results possible, when an allegiance between growers and winemakers creates their best expression of the varietal and vintage. Cellar potential of another 15+ years.

Deep red crimson with purple hues. Rich aromas of intense mocha, dark berries with spicy, cedary oak. Palate shows intensity, richness and a luscious generous mouthfeel. Filled with attractive blackberries, dark plum, subtle vanillan essences and toasty oak held together with silky smooth tannins. The finish is long and complex ? completing a very classy wine.
